Soooooo, finally I have achieved my main 2020 personal goal.

Initial plan was to do this early of 2020, but.. you know what happened. Plan cancelled/delayed. Then I wasn't really sure whether I'm able to propose this year.

She kept insisting on going on a trip, understandable as the whole Covid thing was taking a toll on us.  Then I thought, why not propose at her favourite place ; the beach. So to make her not feel suspicious, I pretend to be busy and let her plan the whole trip. Heh :D

So the day came, or should I say the night before. I was nervous as hell, preparing my speech, practising it. I'm never the guy that is eloquent with my talk and mandarin isn't my strong point either. I was thinking, should I just give my speech in English? But I do so, later she also doesn't understand what I'm talking. Like chicken talk to duck, so plan scrapped.

I didnt sleep the whole night.

So I wasn't planning to propose on day 1, but the weather is really bad, it rained the whole day. I was thinking, am I able to give my speech by the rain, given my natural tendency to be anxious AF.

So the day came.

Thank God. You know how much I hate hot weather but today I was thankful for it. The sun was so bright, I could definitely take a perfect shot during the sun set. I keep hinting to her that I want to take sunset picture as it look damn nice, and keep giving her sample for her to take picture for me. Well, I thought she will know by then.

So by 5PM, we went to the beach, strolling around, and me keep looking for empty space by the beach for me to take the perfect shot. And yeap, we found one!

We set up the tripod. Take a few sample shot.. then....

Some lady start swimming behind us. You can't imagine how pissed off am I, with the hot sun blazing down on me. I tried to move the tripod away so that she wouldn't be in my shot. But no, she kept on swimming to my shot. I could say that my girl is starting to feel tired from taking picture as well. I doesn't want to risk proposing when she is not the mood.

So I decided to move 50 meters away from the hippo, setup the tripod again. I asked her to be in the shot so that I could do some test shot

Then I took a deep breathe, slowly moving in shot, holding her hand, and start giving my speech.

Well... she being her typical self, started judging and commenting every sentence that I said. But with some subtle differences... I could see her eyes start to get watery. She tried to move away from the shot, But I keep holding her hand so that I could finish my speech. She keep trying to run away from the frame >_>

And yeap, unexpectedly, she broke down crying. she really didn't expect it, did she?

I finished off my speech, take the ring out of my pocket, and down my on knee.

And the rest is history.
